Methodology

Results should be explainable, sources should be traceable, and recommendations should not be guessed.

PetMuse uses a rules engine for fit and budget first, then structured content for explanation. Risk-sensitive care notes keep source context and update timing, while imagery prioritizes reusable sources instead of copying copyrighted brand photos.

Quiz recommendation principles

  • Hard blockers come first, including housing restrictions and base budget.
  • Results are broken down into time, budget, housing, stability, readiness and support.
  • Models support content organization, but do not replace the rules engine for the final judgement.

Content safety principles

  • Do not copy third-party articles or stitch together near-verbatim rewrites.
  • Risk-sensitive health content is educational only and does not replace veterinary diagnosis.
  • Every content asset should record its sources, reviewer and update date.
